Supervision and control of children

We all trust our child but we never know how a third party can manipulate it through games and social media. There should be monitoring and daily supervision of children’s activities on their mobile phones.

  • We need to know their codes and not be isolated for some time alone in a room.
  • To control their psychological state of emotional outbursts and strange behaviors.
  • When it is time to study, the cell phone must be in a different location so as not to distract them.

The only sure thing is that we cannot isolate our children from technology. But we must not forget that children always want moderation and supervision even when we are tired. The mobile phone has now entered the good of people’s lives. It is an integral part of our lives and an extension of ourselves in the digital world. This results in a cell phone user looking at the screen more than 150 times daily to view alerts and get information that interests him.

When an adult is so busy with his cell phone, imagine how much this habit of imitation children has on him. But how much does the use of mobile phones affect the mental and physical health of children?

Most children up to the age of 12 use their smartphones to play games or watch videos on youtube. There is also a percentage of our little friends who use mobile for social media communication such as Tik Tok, Instagram, etc.

The influence of mobile phones on children’s psychology is divided into two main categories. Mental effects from gaming and Mental effects from Social media.

Although we generally refer to the general addiction of children to cell phones and the internet, we need to know what our child is most concerned about because the impact on his or her psychology is different whether he is a fanatic gamer or a fan of social media addicted.

What impact does gaming have on kids with smartphones

Instant access to all types of games via their smartphones allows them to be isolated in a matter of seconds and lost on a single screen. Long-time playing with their toys isolates them from their family environment and physical toys. They may find many – including me – to make games smarter, solve puzzles, and use alternative problem-solving techniques within the game, but unfortunately, this is not the case.

The stimuli that children have in the natural environment have nothing to do with the puzzles they solve in gaming. All we can do is isolate them, create a dependency on the video games and promote them through them.

In addition, the communication that exists through them (through most chats) can cause bullying incidents. Aggressive games make children aggressive in their behavior. It has also been observed that speed-based games make children more impatient in their daily lives.

In detail what causes gaming in children:

  • It can make children impatient
  • It can cause patterns of aggressive behavior when interacting with other people
  • It can cause bullying behaviors either passive or active
  • It can cause sleep disturbances or severe stress or anxiety
  • It causes a lack of focus on lessons and learning

When children are under the age of 8 and spend many hours gaming on the mobile it can cause them problems in concentration and distraction.

What impact does social media have on children from mobile phones?

Registering on social media via a mobile phone is a much easier process for a child than using a computer. Many games interact directly with social media by simply filling in the cell phone information. Still, others have whole communities where children can talk and interact through the game itself, eg Roblox.

Tik Tok is the children’s Instagram. As an application, it is very popular at ages 7-15. The problem with these ages is that they find it difficult to understand how fake the social media world is. They have created a false competition and the need to have many “friends” and self-promotion.

Imagine an 8-year-old kid doing a simple drawing and wanting to show it to his parents and uncles to give him praise, to open a Tik Tok and to do some dance to receive praise from various people, branded or not by the whole person people.

He cannot handle so much projection, he cannot handle so much competition, and of course, he cannot understand that the patterns displayed by him have nothing to do with the simple everyday life of households.

This results in the child being isolated in the cell phone itself, not satisfied with the simple daily habits we do, such as a stroll, a table, a family movie, etc. Depression and boredom will fill their daily lives and no social or sporting interest won’t fill his life.

The mobile phone helps children to rub with technology

The truth is that no one can question the modern technology’s perception of children. How young people can understand the philosophy and operation of a device or an application. Yes, there are many good things that mobile phones can offer to children.

  • There are applications and games of knowledge that they can use from a very young age and sharpen their minds.
  • There are so many educational and informative videos on youtube that explain everything in a way that the best teacher could not explain.
  • There are guides to painting, crafts, and crafts that children can follow and make technology more interactive with their daily lives.

Tips for using mobile phones for children

Each parent sets their own limits for the proper use of their smartphone by their child. But there are some basic rules that every parent should know and keep in mind the limits he or she puts on his or her child.

Time limits for use

We should set time limits for using a mobile phone that should not exceed two hours daily in all applications of the device. Whether it’s a game, video or social media.

Friendship requests only from people we know

Using social media and communicating with others is only possible with people who know our child already at school or in our family environment. They don’t talk to people they’ve never met or even know someone they know. People talking about our child should know that, as well as their family.

We don’t post photos

We do not allow our children to post photos on social media or games that have communities and chats. They can use an avatar or a symbol for a photo and not their own face.

We do not declare our real name

We never declare our real data like a username in an application or game. We hide our personal information from any public exposure.

We check the suitability of the game or video

In games and movies that kids can watch from a streaming channel such as Netflix, we strictly follow the PEGI age rating. PEGI indicates the number of ages allowed to play a game or watch a movie, as well as any signs of violence, sex, or bad language.

We know what suits our child

We know the child and we know which games can be constructive for his mind and behavior and which are not. If our child has aggressive behavior, violence games can make it even more aggressive.

Educational videos and knowledge enrichment

We encourage them to watch educational videos or videos that can enrich their knowledge rather than stupid mimicry videos or vulgar phrases as the majority circulate on youtube.

Never alone kids with a cell phone

We never leave children alone with a cellphone in a room. They should generally be in the place where the parents are located and at all times monitor what they see and how they behave.

Informing children about the dangers

It is not enough to raise our children in a magical place protected from external dangers. Children should know exactly what is happening in the outside world but especially in the internet world.

If you don’t know each other closely enough, the one who plays with you or talks to you can be anyone and say anything.
