Fasttag

Technology has truly transformed the way we look at the world. Everything that needed to be done manually a few years ago, can now be done automatically with the help of technology. Take FASTag, for instance.

With the introduction of FASTag, the way we look at Toll payment has changed completely. Earlier, every time you approached a Toll Plaza you would have to wait and make sure you have enough cash to pay the toll. Sometimes, to avoid waiting longer, you might have even looked and made sure that you have the exact amount of money needed for the toll payment.

However, now with FASTag, we don’t have to worry about all this at all. With this digitized electronic tag, you can cruise through the country, passing through numerous polls, without having to wait at any of them, while FASTag pays the tolls for you. All you need to do is link your FASTag to your savings account/payment wallet, do your FASTag recharge on time and make sure the said account always has a minimum balance in it.

What Is The Minimum Balance For FASTag?

Whenever you buy a FASTag, a minimum balance is kept as an emergency fund in your FASTag account. This amount would then be used for any toll transactions if and when there’s no balance in the main account that is linked to your FASTag. However, the customer has to maintain a minimum balance in their linked account to avoid blacklisting of their tag.

The minimum balance for FASTag differs from merchant to merchant. Usually, it’s anywhere between ₹ 100 to ₹ 300. Several payment apps and websites such as Airtel Payments Bank that has the Airtel FASTag have a minimum balance of ₹ 150 that needs to be maintained in the FASTag account.

What Is The Minimum FASTag Recharge Amount?

When you do your FASTag recharge online, what you actually do is top up your savings account or wallet that is linked to your FASTag. And as we mentioned earlier, the only requirement with FASTag is that the FASTag account should at the very least have a minimum balance of ₹ 100 to ₹ 300.

So when you do your FASTag recharge, just ensure that your minimum balance is maintained and your wallet/savings account has at least double the minimum balance. So if your minimum Balance is ₹ 150, see to it that your account has at least ₹ 300 to ₹ 500 above the minimum balance. What we usually recommend is doing a top-up of ₹ 1000 every once in a while.
